Description:
This position includes front-line services to children/youth who have witnessed or experienced violence, which includes one-to-one, safety planning, groups and drop-in sessions. Provides support and education to mothers on the issues of VAW, the effects of child witnessing, non-violent disciplinary methods, child development, nutrition and community resources. Provides information to children/youth regarding healthy relationships and advocates and makes referrals to other services.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a post-secondary program in social sciences or related field
- A thorough understanding of the issue of violence against women, and the impact on child witnesses
- Experience in crisis intervention
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively both as a team member and independently
- Ability to speak and write in both English & French (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check

Family Court Support Caseworker - Part Time Contract
Location: Arnprior/Renfrew
4 days a week
60 hours Bi-weekly

Description:
Reporting to the Outreach Supervisor, the Family Court Support Caseworker provides direct service to male & female victims of domestic violence involved in the family court process.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting clients through legal aid process, lawyer’s requests, assistance with court documentation, and referrals to other services
- Education and support regarding domestic violence
- Crisis intervention
- Safety planning
- Client advocacy
- Group facilitation
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a post-secondary program in social sciences or related field
- Thorough understanding of the issue of violence and Family Court process
- Excellent documentation skills and knowledge of community agencies and resources
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively both as a team member and independently
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car
- Bilingualism an asset

Bilingual Transitional Support Caseworker - Full Time Permanent
Description:
The mission of Bernadette McCann House (BMH) is to work for change that will end abuse, by providing safety, support and education to all those who experience abuse. Our services include an emergency residential program for women and children, community outreach, court support, services for children and youth, groups and workshops.
We are currently recruiting a Francophone Transitional Support Caseworker. This is a permanent position working 30 hour per week, employed by Bernadette McCann House. Funding for this position has generously been made available through a formal agreement with the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre.
Reporting to the Outreach Supervisor, this position provides supports and services to women and their dependents who have experienced abuse, including survivors of human trafficking, that will enable them to access safe and stable housing, as well as relevant supports such as court support.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a post-secondary program in social sciences or related field
- A thorough understanding of the issue of violence against women and impact of children who witness violence
- Experience in crisis intervention, proven ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member
- Extensive knowledge of the needs of Francophone women living in Renfrew County, who have experienced abuse, including human trafficking
- Ability to speak and write in French and English
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle

Relief Residential Caseworker
Reporting to the Residential Supervisor, this position provides direct service to abused women and their children in a residential setting, involving crisis intervention and client advocacy. This is a casual position, on an “as needed basis only”. Weekend and shift work required.
Required qualifications include: graduate of a post secondary program in social sciences or related field; a thorough understanding of the issue of violence against women, and the impact on child witnesses; experience in crisis intervention, and proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively both as a team member and independently. Ability to speak and write in both English & French (preferred) valid driver’s licence and access to a car (preferred).
