The Transitional Housing & Support Services (TH&SS) provide flexible services to women as they establish violent free lives in their community. Women may be living separate from their abuser and/or residing in an emergency shelter, social housing or other accommodations. Women may be living with their abusers and would like assistance with increasing their safety and the safety of their children.
The program is focused on supporting women to transition to independent living. The TH&SS Worker will support women to identify the supports, goals and transition plans they need. The service will respect a woman's right to make her own choices.
TH&SS provides women with help to obtain and maintain housing. BMH does not actually provide housing (other than the shelter) or have direct or special access to affordable housing. The TH&SS Worker will help women understand and support them through the process of Renfrew County Housing Services, and assist with accessing subsidized housing. The TH&SS Worker may also assist women with market-value housing options.
The TH&SS Worker may provide other supports:
- Safety Planning
- Transitional Planning - women will decide on their needs and goals
- Financial Planning - develop a budget
- Obtain proper identification
- Advocate with other Services ie.Housing, Ontario Works, ODSP, etc.
- Referrals- counseling, community resources, legal asistance, etc.
